Mayo Hospital is the oldest and largest hospital in the country and has served humanity since 1871.

The Mayo Hospital was completed in 1870 and began in 1871 with patient care. It was named after the Earl of Mayo, then Viceroy and Governor General of India.

The hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Southeast Asia and a centre of excellence for the general public. It covers more than 54.6 acres of land and the main border with 11 gates. It has a capacity of 300 beds on Independence Day (1947) but has now been expanded to 2399 beds. The father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, also paid tribute to the services provided by the hospital during his visit to the Mayo Hospital on 03/19/1940.
