Asking for Mother, Female, 60 years old, Peshawar
Can my mother leave insulin ? She is on insulin since 2003. She is too weak and her belly and legs are getting hard due to this injection. She is fed up now she wants to leave . Her sugar level is always 250 and some time less than 250. Now she has started neodipar 500mg on dr prescription with insulin but her sugar level is same as 250 or some time less or more than 250. She said that if sugar is not controlled with insulin so why not to leave it because she is getting weak.
No adjust the units of insulin she cant leave insulin as diabetes can b poorly raised so adjust the units

probably her sugar levels are maintained at this level due to insulin...and leaving it may cause uncontrolled sugar levels...its better to continue insulin..
for weakness ,u can improve her diet and start supplements...plus this weakness is due to diabetes and not insulin...
First of all dnt trust google ,bcause google dnt have Medical degree . 2ndly your mother is diabetic for long time and dependent on insuline for long time . insuline always start when dr feel its necessary and it started long before 2003 . if you leave insuline it will be very dangerous for your mother. Now in market there many new type insuline which use once in 24 hours , even for more long period single dose . consult a dr and get adjust dose or insuline proper .

1) you need complete medical history on appointment
2) serum creatinine is necessary before deciding if glucophage is safe or not.
3) check blood sugar once daily as follows:
Day 1: fasting
Day 2: 2 hours after breakfast
Day 3: 15 minutes before lunch
Day 4:Â 2 hours after lunch
Day 5:Â Â 15 minutes before dinner
Day 6: 2 hours after dinner
