It may be due to muscular spasm of your upper back. Sometimes trigger points causes pain in that area most common on office workers and sitting workers. It can be treated with muscular release with Dry needling and chiropractic treatment.
It's most probably related to lungs. According to your symptoms. Do one thing when pain starts on side lying on same side. If pain release it could be related to lungs.
