Asking for Mother, Female, 50 years old, Karachi
My mother done her report of TSH from Tabba heart hospital lab on 8 nov which gives result 10.2 while after only 5 days she again tested TSH from Aga Khan Lab on 13 nov which shows result 6.9 .. NOW the problem is we are confused which is the correct result or does TSH fluctuate this much quickly as this is too much difference in both the reports.. please guide .. thanks.

The normal range is 0.5 to 3.0 milli-international units per liter. A value above the normal range usually indicates that the thyroid is underactive. This indicates hypothyroidism for which proper medicine is necessary. There may be variation between the results of two labs. But in your case both are abnormal. Aga Khan hospital lab have more reliable systems. Take it as a baseline and see your physician and he'll consider about treatment choices.
actually this should b asked by some pathologist however what I know is that such fluctuation is not correct
