Asking For Someone else, Mother, Female, 41 Years old, Rawalpindi
My mother is a patient of extreme anxiety and panic ... she is depressed due to personal and some financial issues which have been going for about more than 12 years. Infact they aren’t getting resolved and becoming worse. Sometimes she just becomes sad doesn’t talk and listen to anyone while other times she starts crying over minor issues or sometimes without any reason during a normal conversation and talks about dying and leaving. she gets mild panic attacks though very rarely. She won’t even talk to her children saying that she is the reason for their misery and cannot stop asking for forgiveness and then becomes quiet. The situation is becoming worse day by day but despite this she refuses to go to a psychiatrist what should I do ?
Your pateint needs immediate treatment for this psychological issue.... I will prescribe you medicine according to latest American guidelines of psychiatry..... InshaAllah your mom health will improve in a month... U can contact me through marham...

Thanks for sharing ur concern. It’s distressing to see our elders in pain and panic. 12 yrs is certainly a long time that she has suffered. Did u see any doctor for this before ? is there any particular situation or thinking that triggers her panic attack? Does she feel irritable, sweaty, fatigued, fast racing of the heart and sleep disturbance ? Does she have a low mood? weight appetite or sleep changes ? I understand that u are very concerned about her but still would like to ask that How many members are there in the family ? Does she have enough support? Has she used any medication or psychotherapy sessions before ?

Yes it’s a very long time ... she is mostly triggered by fights but sometimes even a bad memory can trigger this situation ... we are a family of five including her and everyone in our family is very supportive but somehow that isn’t enough

i understand how difficult it would be for u as a family as for herself as she is suffering. Don’t worry it’s for sure manageable through psychotherapy sessions. You may book an appointment thru Marham for detailed consultation.
