Talk to Psychiatry on Depression
Asking for Self, Male, 27 years old, peshawar
i suffered from depression in 2010 and after 3 years i completely recovered myself from depression without taking any medicines.i begin enjoying my life again but depression left certain marks on my mind e.g periodic panic disorder,fear in presentations,extreme self esteem and hopelessness.In 2018 i went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed me SSRI paroxetine anti-depression medicines.I was so reluctant to use it due to its severe side effects but anyway i begin to start it .so after taking it for 2 weeks it has abruptly boost my brain by blocking absorption of serotonin and i quit to take it by reducing daily dose but after 3 days of quieting it shake my whole brain chemistry due to its withdraw effects and it continues for 2 weeks and till now i have not use it but i am not feeling well as before and i am feeling that it actually reduce my productivity please need your sincere suggestions regarding my situation

Welcome, kindly mention that dose reduction is by yourself or doctor’s advise, I would suggest do not tapper it off by yourself because length of treatment depends upon at factors, as you said that you have still panic anxiety during certain situations, it is fact that medicine gives you many benefits but patient need psychotherapy sessions to give further improvements. SSRI medication has very tricky side effects and can even cause suicidal ideas in young people. Please never ever use SSRI without prescription, supervision and psychiatric consultation. You need a fresh assessment as it is not possible to have any effect of medication you took 2 yers ago.

Sir i have a very negative perception regarding SSRI medicines.Since i used SSRI paroxetine Medicines which was prescribed by a neuro physician for a 4 months on and off for 1 week in this 4 months.And after quieting medicines enormous side effect appeared on me like extreme headache ,flu like symptoms and i was considering this as a flu which is perished after 2 weeks
1) Now i think that this medicines has ruined my life by creating many problems like it decrease my conginative functions,Social relationships,cordinations,confidence,communication skills
2)Having this obsessions i am not enjoying my life as before
please sir resolve my obsessions against SSRI medicines so that i am able to once again start a normal life performance
3)i have another obsession that stuck in mind that if someone is laughing so i think that this man is laughing at me and my confidence level become zero.This obsession i had recovered upto 80% but still this occur to me some times
i would be highly thankful to you for clearing my perceptions like this medicine permanently damaged my brain chemistry and slowed down my brain

Well, respected sir.... The untreated depressive disorder is the main problem.... Current detailed assessment and evidence based use of psychological treatment and selection of other SSRI shall solve the problem.... Moreover, compliance to medication is must to accomplishe stability.

its been a 2 years that i have never took Paroxetine since suffered from its withdraw effects.Now my cognitive function is not sharp as before it was prior to using SSRI medicines.i think my seretonin level is affected due to this medicines.
