There are other mood stabilizer like Valproate and Carbamazepine, But lithium is usually the best option for preventing further episodes. it also has anti suicidal effects. Please discuss this further with your psychiatrist and NEVER use any medication without prescription and supervision of a Doctor. I hope this helps

Dr. Sb. Currently my psychiatrist recommended lithium and insist to use it resulting tremor in hands. As per my study lithium is first line therapy and valporate & carbamazepine is 2nd line therapy. please help are both therapies have same effect? reply awaited so that i can visit you.

Yes there are, but it is advised not to discontinue ongoing medicine without consult.
