person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 34 years old, Karachi

Salaam, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2007, and have been taking Zyprexa since then. I just want to know whether I will ever be taken off medicines or will I have to take them for the rest of my life. P.S: I still have depressive episodes if I don't take my medicines for 2 days.

Bipolar is episodic illness and frequency of episode decrease with time therefor mood stabilizing medicines are being prescribed to prevent episodes. Zyprexa is not a antidepressant. Medicines can be stopped in bipolar illness but don't discontinue your medication yourself your psychiatrist would take best decision to cure your illness.
