Asking for Self, Female, 26 years old, Karachi

My child’s pediatrician has told me to stop giving formula milk to my 4 month old baby boy immediately. She says that WHO has banned all kinds of infant formulas and that they are banned in all major countries as well. Wanted to know is it true as my baby doesn’t get full with breastfeed only.

I agree with the opinion that breastmilk is best for baby, but ban on formula is not true as well as realistic. Try to feed as much by yourself as you can ..and add formula to satisfy hinge as well as caloric needs.

Its not completely true. You can use formula milk along with breast feed and in the meanwhile try measures to increase your breast feed; like breast massage, good hydration, alternate between both breasts while feeding. If these don’t help, u can consult your gynaecologist. He/she can prescribe certain medicines that increase breast feed.

he is right. u need to continue breast feeding. along witb that u need to improve your diet. breastfeeding is never insufficient for a baby if mother diet is good enough
