Asking for Other, Male, 5 years old, Lahore
My 5 years old son has a grey hair strand. Which is grey from the root n black from the end. It has worried me a lot. Why grey hair at such a young age? I have premature grey hair too but they started to show at 18-19 years. Please suggest what should I do? I am really worried.

mostly inherited one...less production of melanin in children can cause grey hairs..also enhance nutrition supplements of ur kid..give proper healthy food..avoid soft drinks, excessive coffee and black tea and proper food like green vegetables and fruits can help to slow the process
Causes for grey hair in children could be many. It could be genetic - meaning that it runs in family.(could be in your child case). Other common causes are anemia (deficiency of Hemoglobin in blood) , It may also happen in children who are on strict vegetarian diet. Please give Syp,Zentel (full bottle in a single dose) to your child. After that give him Syp.Maltofer (half teaspoon daily after meals) and Syp.Vidaylin M (half teaspoon daily) for 6 weeks.
Dear Parent,
If your child has only one or two grey strands then it's ok no need to worry. But if it involves significant area then must lay attention.
causes of grey hairs in kids are multiple but most common is genetics, others are certain vitamin deficiency like B12, Iron Deficiency, inadequate nutrition, synthetic shampoos, smoke exposure and certain medical conditions like thyroid diseases, vitiligo, piabaldism and some complex syndromes.
But these diseases have many other symptoms as well.
give your child balance nutrition which contain iron and b12 like meat, fresh green vegetables and fruits.
Avoid very hot shower.
Avoid prolong exposure to UV lights ( sunlight).
Use good quality shampoo.
I hope it will help you to reduce some of your anxiety.
has he got any white patches in the skin?
is the grey hair patch extending?
any family history of vitiligo (burs)?
if so, share the pictures of the skin as well
