Talk to Pediatrician on Flu And Cough

My son is 10 months old he is having running nose, cough and chest is also producing sound, no fever, please advise.

It is reassuring that your son is not running temperature. If he is feeding well and is not having fast breathing or chest in-drawing, medicines better be avoided. Cough is a protective phenomenon that should not be suppressed with cough syrups. Since his condition is most probably a viral infection, anti-allergy drops or syrups do not help. Use Normal Saline drops or spray for the nose symptoms and a bulb sucker to keep his nose and throat clear. If the chest sounds are in the form of whistling sounds or a wheeze, salbutamol inhaler with face-mask and a spacer-device may be helpful. Otherwise nebulisation with ipratropium bromide and/or salbutamol can be tried in a medical facility.
