my baby girl is 7 weeks old, born prematurely at 33 weeks, she is suffering from constipation, she does pass gas very often but when she tries for pressure she cries and does not pass stool. i gave suppository twice with the gap of 4 days, which makes her pass stool instantly. she is suffering with juindice since birth her bilirubin levels have dropped from 14 to 12 when checked last month. i got her thyroid levels checked too which came normal, results i am attaching.she is breastfed and consumes around 4 ounces of enfamil+. also i am giving her colibid drops before every feed and bonnisan syrup 1ml daily
premature babies tend to have some altered bowel habits , suppository is the safest option. you can repeat it after 48hours,
if baby doesn't get irritable , doesn't develop abdominal distention aur vomits frequently, then passing stools with a gap isn't worrisome.
what is the weight of baby?
how is the sleep pattern?
does she normally cries a lot or stays irritable?
you can give her half top olive oil in milk once daily, it helps gaining weight plus it keeps intestines moist and relieves constipation.
Dear Mother, ur baby is premature.
which milk u r giving? Breast milk is best for her.
secondly if her stool is not hard, it's not constipation. it's her normal stool pattern.
Don't give her medicines for constipation pls.
give premature Formula Milk like ( MEIJI PRE etc ) if breast milk is not enough.
give her Multivitamin drops like VIDAYLIN DROPS half dropper daily once for 3 months

your baby is premature , 7 weeks of her age now is actually 3 weeks , if considered term delivery. So you will have to be patient with her. the persistent high levels of bilirubin need evaluation. get her ultrasound done , as it is also a part of basic workup for premature follow up. introducing kehwa isn't a very good idea, if she is tolerating it well, than its OK, but avoid honey please. furthermore the weight gain is satisfactory.
