Asking for Self, Male, 24 years old, Karachi
It has been somewhat more than a month that I dislocated my shoulder which was followed by a second dislocation a week after. These were not complete dislocations but were rather sub luxations and i can't identify any trauma they were induced by. I had an MRI done a week back and the report indicated "a glenoid labrum tear from 12-3 O'Clock and anterior labrum being detached from the glenoid cartilage but still attached to the periosteum medially. Based on these findings, is it possible to treat my condition through conservative or stem cells treatment or is arthroscopic surgery the only way?
this injury is called SLAP tear or lesion. stem cells have no role. conservative treatment is an option if you do Physio and stay careful with your posture.
but if you have more episodes of dislocations/subluxations then surgery is best option.
read about SLAP injury to shoulder. one school of thought is to always go for surgery.
aoa.you can try physiotherpy management for this as a conservative treatment 1st so that if your muscles of this region get strong, chances of redislocation reduced.you can take my appointment.regards
Hi
Thank you for asking question.
Ideally you shall go for arthroscopic surgery for your shoulder unless you do not want surgery. In that case you shall have physiotherapy of your shoulder.
Thanks

For such an injury preoperative and post operative physio is essential besides arthroscpic repair.
Thnakyou for contacting. Infant we need to assess thepatietn and then choose which treatment is suitable.
Dear Sir. The treatment should be tailored on your symptoms like pain or stability and the demand of activities based on your work and daily life. If the Conservative management like physiotherapy has not helped and you are still struggling with the symptoms like persistent pain and frequent dislocation or subluxation then I would suggest it's worth trying an arthroscopic repair.

Thank you for your response.
In my case, is complete recovery and healing of the labrum possible through physiotherapy?

ligament injuries are unpredictable. they can heal within few months or they might never heal like ACL.
important thing is symptoms, if you having recurrent symptoms then get treatment. if symptoms are setteling then continue Physio.
