Asking for Other, Female, 1 years old, Lahore
month old daughter has always been a healthy baby very fond of eating. She used to take 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks a day around 4 days ago but has suddenly stopped eating EVERYTHING except mother’s feed and cow’s milk (we limit her intake to under 500 ml per day). As soon as I try to feed her she purses her lips and turns her face away and doesn’t eat no matter what except a few morsels here and there. Seems like she has grown averse to eating and would even reject the food she used to love before. She’s still open to junk food though which I try to limit very strictly. She’s healthy, active and playful otherwise but her poo habit has gone down from once daily to once every 2 days. Please help as I am extremely distressed. The only change I can detect is a change in routine due to Ramadaan and maybe teething because she was teething a few days ago.
There could be lot of reasons for change in her habits.
regularly offer her foods which you used to give her.
Give her foods which easy to chew, may be due to teething she is finding difficulty in chewing.
remove distractions like mobile or ipad during her meal time.
offer her finger foods more so that she can easily enjoy them
Blood-type please
Well first of all no need to worry for all toddlers have changes in routine and there can be several reasons to do so.
Yes teething might be a cause which irritates them and do effect eating habits ,try soft foods or foods that she can have them while playing herself.
Try to alter some meals in a way she would love to eat ,that would complete her requirements too.
Temperature now a days is also rising that makes them drink too much water before eating food and remain full ,don't limit water but try giving in those time when she does feel hungry.
in teething phase babies dont often eat anything .They feel ill tempered or chirchirapan
so dont be worry about it she will be ok and do try giving her food
It is common for children to go through spells of not reduced intake. Most likely she is teething or coming off of a growth spurt. Stop giving her the junk food items or you will only end up reinforcing her preference for them instead of the healthy foods she needs to grow and develop properly. The dietary habits you instill in your child now will affect her the rest of her life. For detailed information, kindly please schedule an online appointment.
