Skin Redness Patches With Hand, Face And Lips Swelling

Question

Hi I am having this skin allergy since Eid. earlier it was only itching in hands and under feet but then gradually i started having red spots on upper side of hands and half arms. i went to GP in memon and he gave me FEXET and ZANTAC for three days with CBC tests. medicine didnt have any effect and after three days he changed to Qumic and Kestine and asked me to go to dermatologist after 5 days. on fifth day i had stomach pain and soreness and i vomited during night and was rushed to emergency given the skin redness was spreading to my legs and full arms and around neck with swollen face, lips and hands. i was given risek, onset and other allergic injections and drips and was diagnosed i have food allergy. they have now given me medicine for a week includes dexmantose, rigix and myteka. i have been taking it since yesterday but again in night my skin redness worsened and my face and half arms were swollen. please suggest me any good doctor for this as im in deep stress and itchy pain.

Aoa, I am sorry to know about your problem. After reading your comments it looks like that you have urticaria with angioedema (an allergic condition with itching and redness all over the body with swollen lips mouth and tongue). In between you had severe attack’s of this allergic reactions but it’s quite fortunate you didn’t have a life threatening anaphylactic attack (in which there can be difficulty in breathing and decreased blood pressure).

The most important step in the treatment is to identify what is causing it (we call it an allergen). To be honest it can be anything ranging from food to environment to pets or carpets to clothes n jewellery or even stress of any type. So you should try to know what’s causing it.

Second please keep on taking
Tab kestine 10 mg at bed time
Tablet cimetidine 400 mg twice a day
Tablet Myteka 10 mg before going to bed
It’s a clear case of allergy and there are numerous allergy centres in big cities including NIH Islamabad where you can get proper treatment
Before you visit them may I have answers of few questions please
Are you allergic since childhood?
Do you have anyone else in your family who’s allergic or have asthma?
Do you have pets at home?
Have you ever got blood tests like complete blood count and serum IgE levels done?
