Surgery is the only option we have at the moment to treat fistulaThere is no operation done by laser for this diseaseYes you will need to take complete bed rest for atleast a week after the surgery . The surgery itself will be decided after getting a fistulogram or a 3D rectal ultrasound to know the exact artichecture of the fistulaDr. Ahmad Uzair QureshiMember Royal College of Surgeons of England (Eng);Fellow of College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan;Member of College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan;Fellow of Higher Education Academy (UK)PG Dp in Medical Education (Cardiff)

Best option is surgery but chances of recurrence are there. So first surgery should be done by expert surgeon

Definitive treatment for fistula in ano is surgery. Type of surgery, recovery period and recurrence rate depend upon the type of fistula and expertise available. usually surgery is curative but unfortunately recurrence is a possibility. Surgery does not require strict bed rest.
