Asking For Father, Male 76, Multan
Hi Drs, Few months earlier, my father felt numbness in his right hand and arm and elevated blood pressure. He is lean and had been very active his whole life. A month ago, he felt loss of balance while walking. We got his spinal x-ray which showed a small displacement in spine near neck. Now suddenly we found that he had an old bump/tumor like growth on his back which was not increasing for years but now it has puss and is having 3,4 openings. I am very anxious about him, pls advise something...is this something serious?

Thanks for sharing ur concern. Don’t worry it’s not a tumor, it’s either a carbuncle or an abscess formed in an old cyst. It’s easily treatable. it will be excised and drained by a surgeon. hope this helps.
Loss of balance and high blood pressure is a different issue and that definitely needs a complete history and evaluation. Any fast racing of the heart ? neck pain ? ear pain or discharge ? hearing issues ? headaches? blurring of vision ?

Yes he has very long history of ear discharge and hearing issue, more than 25 years... he never had high blood pressure, it is recent, few months ago we noticed this...

Okay, blood pressure definitely needs a good control and loss of balance and the weakness in arm needs evaluation. Any difficulty in speaking or vision? Is he able to stand and walk without support without losing balance ? You may book an appointment through Marham , and also share any reports of the tests that have been done previously.

-His symptoms of numbness in hand and arm, loss of balance seem to be related to the cervical disc prolapse seen on x ray which might be causing pressure effects on spinal nerves. He need to be seen by Neurologist physician who will confirm the diagnosis by MRI scan and manage him. -Is he still having high blood pressure and is he on some medication for that? -Regarding his infected lump in the back needs antibiotics cover and further assessment by dermatologist for clinical exam. Thanks
