Talk to General Physician on Silent Hypoxemia -covid 19

My mother is 80 years old and is admitted in the ICU for silent hypoxemia. She’s been treated with a CPAP to stable her oxygen levels. The doctors will put her on a ventilator if O2 saturation continues to drop below 90%. I was wondering if using a ventilator for her age is appropriate. I’ve read some articles online stating that elderly patients don’t really survive with silent hypoxemia even if they are put on ventilator. What is preferable for her because for the moment she can talk/walk properly with extremely low levels of SpO2? Have you seen cases where elderly patients survived after they’ve been put on ventilator? Thank you so much.
