testing depends on number of factors your risk of acquiring STI
degree of exposure to unprotected sex
when was this exposure ? time lapse
any symptoms rash ulcer discharge from penis
why you think you can have STI what makes you think?
as mentioned above
test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea only need urethral swabs/urine test.
test for HIV/Hep, B,C need blood sample
there is usually lag time mean gap between exposure and infection to become aparent in bloods like in HIV it can take up to 3 months for test to become positive.If your initial test negative a repeat test is suggested in 3 months time if there is enough suspicion of risk.
