- Painful tongue when eating and talking - swollen tongue Happened to me about 3 time before when I was much younger. Tongue swells and hurts so much that I can't even drink water and can't even swallow my saliva (if its the correct word). Its been hurting for three days now the problem is increasing each day but I can eat a little right now if i try but I think it will go worse.
