if this loss of sense of smell and taste is so prolonged then it comes under post covid syndrome..which means that you had covid which had left some residual damage. no need to worry it will recover spontaneously

Any upper respiratory infection can cause loss of sense of smell and taste which is often shortlived. This is because of damage to olfactory cells which detect smell.SARSCoV2 is the most common cause of neuronal dysfunction in times of current Pandemic. But viruses like influenza,Parainfluenza, picorna viruses ,can also cause damage to nerve cells. It may take upto 6 months to recover .After 6 months the chances of recovery lessen.
