Asking for Self, Male, 29 years old, Calgary Canada
Hello, Doctors. I hope you are doing good. Few days back I had tests of Hba1c and fasting blood glucose. Hba1c is 5.4 and Fasting blood glucose is 5.9.
Only two months back my fasting bloof sugar was 4.8. Since that, i have been very strict on diet and avoiding every fatty and fried food. Eating whole grain wheat and proper diet. But even then the level is 5.9.
Please note that 12 Hours before I had Beef donaire, Hummus, Pita bread, and Sauce. Can this increase the spontaneous results of fasting blood glucose?
Shall I need to worry about 5.9 level of glucose? Please help me understand the results. Thanks.

Hba1c of 5.9 is suggestive of prediabetes. You should try to lose some weight and aim for a BMI of 25-28. The lower the better. If you are already in that range then seek advice from an endocrinologist. As a general rule avoid white breads, free sugars, sweetened beverages, fast or fatty foods. Walk daily 30 min.
