Talk to General Physician on General Physicians, Help?
Asking for Other, Male, 31 years old, Faisalabad
A 31 years old male has essential Hypertension since age 15 along high cholesterol. His Blood pressure is well controlled, for hypertension he takes Zestril 20mg at night, Norvasc 5mg at morning, Merol 25mg Twice Daily & Ascard 75mg twice a week, His Cholesterol remains under normal range when he takes Lipitor 10mg daily, Whenever he stops Lipitor, his cholesterol goes beyond normal range despite avoiding fatty and sugary foods. he has taken Lipitor for 3 years regularly, and was stopped by physician. He said you have take enough. After that He has taken Lipitor on and off i.e for a month then stop.
How should he take Lipitor to keep cholesterol under control while being on the minimum non-frequent non-daily dose of Lipitor?
Internist/General Physicians guidance required.

Normally dyslipidemia doesn't occur along hypertension at this age group but ideally that should have been investigated along with family history of dyslipidemia and Cardiovascular disease.Plus Should be done Details Fasting lipid profile instead of only cholesterol to know which type of cholesterol is high ie LDL ,TGs etc . Needed to be assessed for other diseases particularly endocrine system related diseases.

There is family history of essential hypertenion also F/H +ve (written on Cardiologist' first prescription), but no history of cardiovascular disease.
