Asking for Mother, Female, 43 years old, Mianwali
My mother is complaining of occasional blurring sometimes darkness in visual field for past few weeks which lasts for a few seconds. We've taken her to ophthalmologist will take her again but just wanted to ask what could be the reasons for this.
Her occular pressure was normal when checked a week back. Her blood cholestrol and glucose levels are also within normal range.
She's taking progestins for AUB, no medications other than that.
We'll take her for detailed evaluation again but for past few days we arent able to get appointment with the doctor. I was worried so if any ophthalmologist can explain what can be the possible reasons and what to do next.
Blurriness remaining for few seconds is called amourosis and most common cause is vascular disorders. Kindly have her carotid doppler done and visual fields done to rule out pathology
Check for hypercoagulation of blood ,and doppler for carotid arteries
AOA.such symptoms are some times associated with hypotension transient blurring of vision and regained. sometimes this may be associated with raised ICP..if possible send here examination reportrecord her blood pressure.may need carotid dopler.regads and best wishes for her.Prof ArshadProf. Muhammad Arshad MahmoodMBBS.DOMS.FCPS.MSc.Medical EducationDean institute of Ophthalmology and Vision SciencesDirector Medical EducationAl-ALEEM Medical College Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital Ferozpur Road Lahore
It must be ophtahlmologic migraine. If she feel headack after the vision blurring or the problem is frequent, you have to go norologist.
