Asking for Self, Female, 20 years old, Toba Tek Singh

I had acne for 5 years (on face, chest, back and upper arms). I consulted a dermatologist and he gave me isolit capsules (isoteretenion) , acne aid bar and acne scar gel. I used this Medicine for 3 months almost. After that I got clear skin And my doctor asked me to stop the medicine except face wash. Now the acne from face ,chest and back have completely gone and I have acne free face and chest. But I still have acne on my upper arms. Even when I was using this medicine it cleared acne from face chest and back and worked a bit better for arms (dried) but no completely clear acne from upper arms. So I still have acne on my upper arms. What should I do? As I have stopped taking medicine on my doctor prescription. How can I clear acne from my upper arms? And how to prevent acne to come back?

Your dermatologist has already done a wonderful job by getting u acne free. Why dont u consult him again. As he knows ur history n has seen u before. I'm sure he is the best person to treat u again. As we have not seen u n neither know what type of acne u had or still have... Treatment would be blind n hence wud be effective only 10%.

in my opinion your treating Dermatologist is the right person to contact instead of you looking for a new Dermatologist.

If I were your Dermatologist I would have never prescribed you oral isotretinoin because of very serious nature of it's adverse effects.

Dear pt, I hope you are well. its sad when few ppl use a good medicine in a wrong way and spoil its results. The Dr guided you wrong. There protocols to adhere using the medication ...dosage, co morbidity, risks, age, weight all need to be taken in account and prescribe for duration FDA has set guidelines. Its imp to either consult you or do online consult so can properly guide you and chart a plan. you need to take it seriously as Acne is too simple to treat but aftereffects ..scars n pigmentation gets tricky.
