Talk to Dermatologist on Acne Scars

Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Islamabad/Rawalpindi

I have been on tretinoin which ultimately resolved my acne issues but left me with severe acne scarring which has really affected my social life. My dermatologist suggested Co2 laser but she's quite expensive when it comes to lasers and difficult for me to afford considering I'm going to need multiple sessions. Is there a clinic or a doctor who is offering this treatment in lesser and affordable price? Thanks

Unfortunately any cosmetic treatment are expensive any where in the world. I don't know how much that doctor quoted you for the laser, but lasers really don't help at all in treatment of scars.

In my opinion the treatment that is really going to hello you is PRP with Subcision of the scars and Microneedling. All done together at the same time at the same session.

Find out if there is a credible Dermatologist in your city who harvest platelets in special PRP kits. In my opinion they all would be extracting PRP in laboratory test tubes. in this you don't get quality platelets.

Secondly and most importantly, you mentioned that you were given isotretinoin for your acne. I don't know who prescribed you that medicine, but that med is strictly contra-indicated in women during their child bearing age because of its serious side effects in women. That med is prescribable after menopause.

Thank you Doctor for an in-depth explanation. I don't really know about any doctor who offers subcision. If you know any good dermatologist in Islamabad/Rawalpindi who can help me with this situation, please guide me. Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am sorry I don't know any one in your area. Don't worry about subcision. if your have a doctor who harvest platelets in special PRP kits and inject PRP within the thickness of the skin (intra-dermal) and uses PPP for microneedling is good enough. At least your shallow scars could be eliminated by this.

Dear Pt, Isotretinoin is FDA approved! and perfect FINE!!! as lead Dermatologist and Cosmetic surgeon I have given in NHS And Harley street as well! so ignore that its harmful important is to be under supervision that's it! 2) I simply WONT recommend CO2 or any ablative laser as in Asians it can cause PIH plus most have poor quality Chinese, Korean laser that shouldn't be called a box even! 3) PRP is a WASTE of money as you need proper American kits for proper yield and variable results! There are other safer options and would suggest to book an appointment via marham so can discuss in detail as it would be a 30 min consult so you can be guided properly. Regards
